

Cookery courses for all tastes
Whether you are interested in bread, game, fish, vegetarian food or different cuisines, Coastal Cooking cookery courses are a great experience. Our approach is very informal and relaxed - you will learn a lot while you are with us, but you will also have an enjoyable and engaging day. You will leave full of inspiration and with new skills to take​ back to your own kitchen. We offer a range of one-day and part-day sessions, covering subjects from Fish Cookery Courses, to Game, to Vegetarian, to Bread Making Courses, all from our beautiful premises in Ilfracombe, Devon.
We have been running cookery courses since 2010, with thousands of delighted participants - many returning several times for different subjects. In December 2020 we relocated from Streamcombe, near Dulverton, Somerset, to our wonderful premises on Fore Street in Ilfracombe. Our venue continues our informal and slightly rustic style, is beautifully light and sunny, and is only a stone's throw from the sea. We also renamed ourselves from Streamcombe Cookery School to Coastal Cooking. Our cookery workshops include full day courses and also a selection of very popular short courses, including Pasties & Scones, Pizza Making, Seafood and Sushi Making.

Courses are run by Ian, bringing a wealth of technical knowledge, experience and creativity spanning all of our subjects.

We pack plenty into every one of our cookery courses, covering each topic as comprehensively as we can. Focus is on why each technique or ingredient is important, what makes a one ingredient superior to another and how to get the very best from them. All sessions are very "hands on" - you will be the one doing the cooking.
Groups are kept small to give you maximum direct tuition and allows all skill levels to be accommodated. One day courses are from £130 per person and the short courses start at £20 per person.
We keep our prices low to make courses more accessible, but this isn't at the expense of content or quality! Many of our participants have told us how much more hands-on, detailed, informative and enjoyable our courses are in comparison to ones they have attended at some very well known competitors.
Alongside our set of regular courses, we also run bespoke or private courses for families or group​s of friends and these can be full or part days.
